The Dormition of the Mother of God Cathedral is the largest and most famous Bulgarian Orthodox cathedral in Varna, and the second largest in Bulgaria (after cathedral Alexander Nevski in Sofia). Officially opened on 30 August 1886 it is the residence of the bishopric of Varna and Preslav, and one of the symbols of Varna.
